Subject: newb question about difference in hole markers
|
I was just wondering if anybody had a link or could tell me what all the different kers on the fairway mean. I know that red, white, and blue are distance's to the hole. 100, 150, and 200 yards. but I have seen a black and white stick, a black and yellow stick that are on the fairway, not sure what these mean. So if anybody has a description of all available kers for a hole or a link that would be great. thanks.

Check with the golf shop as there is no standard. The black and yellow probably are additional kers on par 5s at 250 and 300 yards. <Kamachi923@gmail.com > wrote in message news:1159372581.709720.174310@d34g2000cwd.googlegroups.com... >I was just wondering if anybody had a link or could tell me what all > the different kers on the fairway mean. Frequently the striped kers on the fairway are 150-yard kers, but not always: one course here in the Bay Area (Metropolitan in Oakland) uses them as aiming kers, not distance kers at all. Useful when one can't quite see the green/flagstick.

Aiming kers? How are they supposed to be used? Craig "Nothing matters but the weekend, from a Tuesday point of view."

And if the fog is in, they're all blind.

So if anybody has a description of > all available kers for a hole or a link that would be great. thanks. There's no standard for yardage kers. If the ker is in the middle of the fairway, it's probably a 150 yard ker. These are USUALLY white stakes, but can differ. At my home course they have green and white kers on each side of the fairway near the green, indicating that you should not drive your cart through them (to keep the carts away from the greens). At another course I've played at, the 150 yard is white, but has replaceable "caps" on them which indicates pin position (front, middle, back) for the day. IOW, the scorecard should say something about your particular course.
