Hi Everybody, I am a recent lurker who has spent time here trying to understand how people feel about these new-fangled GPS and laser rangefinders. I got a lot of good information, and I appreciate the efforts of people who wrote about their experiences and opinions. I decided that I wanted to have a GPS unit, so I just ordered the iGolf, and it will be arriving next week. I intend to put it into use right away, and I want to be ready to download my course data, so I have been trying to figure out in advance how this is done.. A question: I went to the igolf website, and it appears that I have to pay $29.95 for a one year subscription to join and get golf course GPS data. I was under the impression that I could get golf course data free. Did I miss something? Do I have to pay to get my courses put into my unit? Thanks, BillK

Thanks Dave. Sounds like a good value, as long as I can use the courses after the year is over. Have you found that their canned green coordinates are accurate for the courses you play? BillK

But if you are playing a course where the greens have been re-worked (or more) in the past few years, then things can be way off. Their support folks are pretty good about helping you with stuff like that. dave

In comparison with the SkyCaddie you do have the advantage of this being a one-time cost (using SkyCaddie your courses for the most part literally expire after a year). If you pay iGolf once and are satisfied with the courses that you have downloaded then they are yours forever whether you renew or not. You also have the option of mapping your own courses in which case there is not cost. dave
