I read that she only had 11 unforced errors, whereas typically in the past, her unforced errors would be the reason she lost. Did she have a different approach to this tournament?

But the official stats state that Serena only had 11 unforced errors: http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/scores/stats/day17/2701ms.html And Pam Shriver wrote: "Serena had so few unforced errors (11) and that's just not what she usually does. She usually litters the court with unforced errors and winners. But she has never been able to control her power game, hit so many winners (28) like she did today." http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis/aus07/columns/story?id=2744597

Did she have a >different approach to this tournament? Yes, she hit the ball so hard and in the right spots so it never came back, thus limiting the chance that she would make an error. The way Serena played last night, I couldn't see any woman player in history who could have beaten her. And she's out of shape and has had no preparation. There's the old adage that the best woman in the world couldn't beat the #100 ranked man. I wouldn't bet against Serena playing the #100 man.

And no one forced her to hit them, as best as I could determine. Certainly didn't impress me :-) dave
