Subject: golf course(Turf grass )Management question...
Hello,

I'm just an amateur golfer, who just recently got laid off from a factory
job of 17 years, that needs a change of pace. I'm 41 years old.
I love being outdoors, and I was wondering if anybody can give me any
information on going back to school to get a degree in golf course(turf
grass) management. I live in central Illinois, U.S.A.
Anybody know any good schools,programs...?
What do most golf course's require ?
Is this a good field to get into ?
I am not so concerned about money, I just want to spend the next twenty
years doing something I enjoy.

Thank you,

John

Yes, however prepare yourself for relocation, because it's likely once
educated.

I would suggest you phone either the USGA or the PGA. Both have staffs
that take over golf courses prior to a tournament to prep them properly.
They should be able to direct you.

I know Ferris State University in Michigan has one.

I think it's a 2 year degree.

Check around the U of Illinois system as one of the agriculture schools
might have a program.
