Andrcom@aol.com wrote: > May play tomorrow We are having the wildest weather imaginable. October was the hottest on record. We had three days approaching 38C (100F) and near-zero rainfall. Then last week we had one of the coldest November maximums ever ... it struggled to 8C (46F) and there was snow falling to low levels. Then yesterday it was back to 36C (98F), with hot 120kmh winds, bushfires in parts of the state, and roofs being blown off and trees blown over. All symptomatic of an extreme drought year. Ah, Melbourne ... if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes. I may play tomorrow too. I'll wait to see what it's like though! -- Cheers Colin Wilson ------------------------------------------------------------------ Trentham Golf Club: http://www.trenthamgolf.com Barnbougle Dunes: http://publishing.kyneton.net.au/barnbougle ------------------------------------------------------------------

We've had some luck. We're still way behind in the local resorvoir levels, but at least it's rained a time or two since summer. How 'bout in your neck of the woods? Scott

The east of Australia is in the worst drought since European settlement. Towns are running out of water, farmers are leaving, we've had bushfires three months earlier than usual, and golf courses in the driest areas are facing the probability of closing. Where I live, which is one of the more "fortunate" areas, the annual rainfall to this point of the year is usually about 900mm, we've had 460mm. The water storage systems are only 5-15% full *after* winter. A 40,000 megalitre reservoir near me is a puddle. -- Cheers Colin Wilson ------------------------------------------------------------------ Trentham Golf Club: http://www.trenthamgolf.com Barnbougle Dunes: http://publishing.kyneton.net.au/barnbougle ------------------------------------------------------------------

Warm today - I'd quit work early to play, but have a golf lesson scheduled already.
