Yawn, well the weatherman says it will be mild tomorrow morning so I may have to wear a light windbreaker. Forecast is clear and sunny with a high of 75 heading to the mid 80's by Sunday. I hate wearing a windbreaker. Regards Daveb

I played today and it wasn't quite cool enough for a windbreaker, but close enough that I might have needed one later on in the round. As it turned out, it never came close. I was forced to haul that damn thing around in my bag for 18 holes. I'm sure the back fatique from the added weight was affecting my swing there at the end. Played a really cool course that apparently not many people know about (or maybe don't want to play since it's in a less than desirable neighborhood) It's a muni, but very well cared for. As a bonus, it was the site of the 1927 PGA Championship. As if that wasn't enough, it cost a big $18... Scott

In fact, I'll submit that in terms of bang for your buck, it's in my #1 slot now. The greens aren't high-end CC quality, but they're not far from it. Not in terms of speed, as everyone wants to interpret greens quality (they weren't slow, but they also weren't slick). I simply mean that if I missed a putt due to irregularities on the surface, I must have missed it. And they were far from boring. Lots of challenging chips, pitches, and putts today. No issues to speak of through the green. Very nice turf conditions. It's only real fault is that it is so old. 6510 from the tips - par 71 - so maybe a little short by modern standards. 6510 / 71 is plenty long for me at the moment, but I haven't been at it that long. Also, a dearth of bunkers by modern standards. It appears that many from it's youth have been converted to grass bunkers. Oh, well. Did I mention that it cost me $18 to play? I will say that it has the finest sand I've ever played on while not a guest at a CC. In fact, the sand was better than many CC's I've played at. That nice white sugar sand that is a rarity around here. Unfortunately, I had a few chances to get up close and personal with it today. And - though things may have changed since 1927 - where else can you play a PGA Championship course for $18? Given advances in course maintenance technology, it wouldn't surprise me to hear that I played a course today that was in better shape than it was in '27. That's a bargain. Scott

Had plenty of time to do it, also. Pretty much had the place to myself. Good thing, too. A photographer posing as a golfer could have really ruined my day on the third tee today... :-) Scott
