...the day before playing? Does anyone here plan their diet around their game? Pasta is probably good the day before but I'm curious if anyone has any better ideas. -- Gary

Walking: A reasonable meal before I leave for the course and at least 48 ounces of water. Water throughout the first 9. Gatorade at the turn and consumed through the back nine with a bunch more water. Riding: Beer. Beans or anything that causes flatulence. Letting gas pass in the middle of a backswing distracts the opponent quite effectively. If you're really talented, you can let one go during your own backswing and the laughter this causes in your opponent decreases his ability to make good swings. > <gary@hanley.net> wrote in message news:ecmt6o$jc7$1@reader2.panix.com... > > ...the day before playing? Also, a combo of carbs and protien to chomp on mid round is now a requisite. Tex's suggestion of banana and some nuts (cashews for me) or Turkey Jerky seem to fill the bill.

How many calories do you think you burn in a round of golf? 1000? 1500? 2000? Why do you need to "load up" prior? Have your normal breakfast, carry a banana or a protein bar and you'll be fine. Tex

The only time that I give consideration to my pre-round food is when I have a starting time that will cause my round to 'span' mealtime (i.e. if my round starts at 10 then I might eat a larger breakfast to account for the fact that I won't have lunch until after the round). I don't carb-load for golf. -- <-- Harry -- >

Gary, I eat what I want in moderation, a round of golf is just another day. While it may be a concern, as food is at times, it shouldn't be. Enjoy the game, and try not to worry about incidentals. >mho >v fe >=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0"d R i V e =A0L e $ s"

Just whatever I feel like fixing. I'm playing at 0650 tomorrow and tonight it was well aged Black Angus ribeye, corn, baked potato, salad, garlic bread and a couple of glasses of good red. I'm playing at the same time Sunday and tomorrow night might be a sandwich or bowl of soup.

What about breakfast before playing in the morning? I've been fighting some exhaustion and blamed my heart (which causes me to not exorcize as much as I should). But I went to the dor's yesterday where my blood pressure was 83/62. I'm suspecting medicine is the culprit, but am awaiting blood tests. Meanwhile, I want to pay much more attention to my game day diet. I'm carrying nuts and Gatorade.

Walking, carrying, your bag of course. Someone in average shape cannot finish that round without being worn out. Riding is a different story. I could play all day riding, it's hardly exercise. Shit, I hit more balls at the range than in 2 rounds of play.
