I managed to hit 13 greens today. The flat stick (I am never going to blame
myself) just was not working. Only 1 birdie,10 pars, and 2 three putts.
Made 4 bogies and one double on the other five holes. (Chipping is such a
strength) A 78 is not all bad for late fall. I just wish we had big greens
so that I could blame my putting woes on them.

I had a 63 in the snow and ice.

You're a piker when it comes to flatstick failure. I once hit 11 greens and
shot an 85 (41 putts) - no penalty strokes.

Well I shot in the 80s today here in Port St. Lucie. Temperature that is.

Golf score was 110 with 34 putts. As you might imagine, not one GIR.

If it weren't for the flatstick I don't know what I'd do.

The best I've done here is a 107 with 28 putts. I am just not a long hitter
and I screw up too many easy short irons.

But the weather is great.

That's some solace.

Last Friday I shot 75, missing 5 putts in the 4-6 foot range and another 5
in the 8-12 foot range. This course's greens have moderate slope so none
were of the "8 feet but it breaks almost 8 feet" like I get on my home course
sometimes, so I don't really have any excuse other than blowing what woulda
coulda shoulda been my first ever round in the 60s on a real par 72 6600+
yard course.

If it weren't for a magic SW that kept putting me close for birdies I kept
missing, I probably would have had about the same number of putts, shot
about the same score, and not been nearly so frustrated. That's the third
time this season I've been hitting some really good shots and just missed a
slew of putts under 12-15 feet for birdie. Another wasted opportunity to
get in the 60s, if I just had the kind of putting I had back in late April
to mid June (when, of course, my ball striking was shit and my second shot
on every other hole was played from behind trees!)

Sometimes I really hate golf! Luckily I won't have to play again for a
while, based on the sleet that's just started to fall in the last hour or
so. Goodbye highs in the 60s, hello highs in the 20s!

I hear you -- Thanksgiving I hit 7 of 9 greens -- missing one of the
greens by 3 feet -- hit the stick from my one pot bunker shot (then
lipped out the 6 footer) -- lipped out putts on 3 straight holes -- missed
6 putts from 6 to 15 feet & shot an even par 36 --- shoulda woulda
coulda.....

It seems logical to me that there should be an inverse relationship
between GIRs and putts.

When I miss a green, my chip is likely to be much closer to the hole
than my approach shot would have been.

I can believe that as it sounds reasonable.

Today I hit 12 of 14 fairways and had 39 putts and still shot a 110.

Oh, well.

I assume you must have had zero GIRs.
