Subject: Toe hooks?

Hit a lot of hooks yesterday, most of them seemed to be toe hits (grass
stains or dimple marks out towards the toe). Any ideas what can cause
that? Maybe ball back too far in my stance? I don't take a divot so no
clues there. My normal ball flight is straight or a slight draw.

TIA...

Actually, I'd say this is a big clue. I think you are probably
flipping
your wrists at impact, or before impact. It's probably not something
that you are conciously doing, or even aware that you are doing.
The only way you will know is to see yourself on video in the
face-on view.

When you flip, if your timing is right, you can hit straight shots.
But you can also hit fades, draws, hooks, slices as your timing
varies.

The reason I think that you are flipping is that if your hands were
ahead of the ball at impact, you would automatically take a divot
after hitting the ball. If you flip, though, you'd better pick the
ball,
or you'll most likely hit fat.

The fix to this problem? There is no easy fix, or at least I haven't
found one yet. I'm taking lessons to try to cure this, myself.

Besides setup? Coming out of posture, most likely.

When I get too far inside on my backswing, I'll often see toe-hooks.
