The only iron he's hit to within 12 feet was the one out of the bunker. The reason he's running away with it is that his long putts, which usually burned the edges the first three days, are going in today.

At his press conference just now, he did say he was playing for pars, and even for bogey on some of the holes. But I still think he was off-line on more approaches today than he was earlier in the week.

How about using this as a metric to Woods strength. If they were playing to handicaps, I think he'd have to give his nearest rival about a stroke a round. In most clubs, that's a compelling scratch golf advantage. What's to understand? He makes fewer bad mistakes and his good shots a probably 20% closer, on average, to the hole than most of the others. Your not a fan I take it.. your only get an ulcer if you get yourself in a twist trying to deny Tigers greatness Get out now while you can...sitting at home on his ass and still winning Majors is only gonna add to his legend. Kepp watching, and weep.

Is he just better, stronger in game and in mind than anyone else? I mean I've watched him win about 7 of these majors, and he just appears to be able to make the right shot when needed, and he seems to NEVER let any other player get into his head. I remember Hal Sutton dueling him and beating him several years ago, but Sutton was already a bit of a curmudgeon and enough of a - for lack of a better term - man to not be cowed by Tiger's "demeanor" or whatever it is he carries with him. Is Tiger really that much stronger than the field? Help me understand. Ed

He is not as tired as the rest of the golfers who decide to play the tour rather than pick and choose his events. If Tiger wants to break a record to be proud of he needs to break one of the following to validate his other records. 1. Average number of tournaments a year over a 10 year period compared to Nicklaus, Palmer and Player. 2. Total number of events played in a career over a 20 year period compared to N, P and P. Or any other great like Weiskopf, Trevino, etc. All Tiger does for most of the season is sit home on his ass or play for appearance money overseas. Barely plays enough to satisfy the PGA. That is the main reason he is stronger.

He won half of them in the ten-year period from 1971 to 1980. During that time, he averaged 16.3 official events per year. Tiger only has only played nine full years, plus parts of two, on tour. During the nine, he averaged 19.6 official events. He also plays the President's Cup, which wasn't around in Jack's day.

I will never consider him the greatest ever until he wins the money list on the Nationwide and Grey Goose tours in the same year. -- <-- Harry -- >

Hal Sutton, 14 PGA victories, won the PGA, captained the Ryder Cup. And what he's remembered for is being one of the few people who ever beat Tiger head to head.
