Woosnam puzzled by Langer input Woosnam faced some tough decisions for his wildcard picks Europe's Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam said he was surprised to learn that his predecessor Bernhard Langer has been advising US team captain Tom Lehman. And Langer responded by saying he was perplexed that Woosnam had not asked him for advice. "It seems strange to me that Tom Lehman asked to speak to Bernhard Langer," said Welshman Woosnam. "I've spoken to two other captains, I've been a vice-captain and I've seen how it's worked before." Langer said: "I can't understand why he has not asked me for advice or suggestions." The German, who captained Europe to a crushing win at Oakland Hills in 2004, felt it was in the spirit of friendship to respond to Lehman's request for insights into the job, although he admitted he held "a little bit" back. The build-up to the match at the K Club in Kildare is becoming rocky for Woosnam, who was criticised by Denmark's Thomas Bjorn after omitting him from his 12-man team. The Ryder Cup takes place at the K Club in Ireland from 22-24 September. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/golf/5313382.stm
