Subject: Taylor Made rac-LT - 5 degrees upright?
|
So, I bit the bullet today and ordered a set of Rac LT irons. I went through the club fitting procedure, and the end result was that the clubs need to be bent 5 degrees upright. Ouch. They of course didn't want to do it, so they're going to ship the order to Taylor Made on Monday. They're not even sure if Taylor Made will bend the clubs that much, so this enter discussion might be pointless :-( Has anyone else had any experience with getting clubs modified this substantially? Will Taylor Made do it? I'm very tempted to head to the Human Performance Lab at the University of Calgary where they have a Taylor Made swing analysis system. It costs $100, but it might be worth it to get the exact fitting details.

Unless you are 6'5", with a 32 inch sleevelength, 5 degrees seems like a lot. Mike? '

5 degrees is almost unheard of. I would ask for a re-fitting from someone else. Why risk getting the wrong angle? I also agree that the fitting was erroneous. "Luv2golf" <youkiddingme@yahoo.com > wrote in message news:lOSdnaM6P8Gz2WzZnZ2dnUVZ_tidnZ2d@comcast.com... 5 degrees is almost unheard of. If anything you would have peace of mind.

From what I was told, TaylorMade will ship you pretty much what you order through their custom department (no additional charge). I have R7XD irons on order now that are 1.5" longer 2 deg upright (nets out to 4 degree upright when the length is factored in). I am getting Tour Velvet grips instead of TM, and a special shaft not even listed on their website (don't remember the model steel-something with a low kickpoint in stiff--the golf pro sent in the order so he knows). All this stuff is not only doable, but apparently, according to this pro who has been to the custom club operation in Calif, they do this for anybody in about 5 days. Did I mention it's the same price as "off the rack"? Ping is the same way--not sure about others. I am getting a Ping Rapture hybrid (soon-not quite released yet) but am only getting a different grip on that one so not really a big deal. I never knew these club mfgs. would do this much for you--apparently it is quite common. <zipper40hDIESPAMMERS@netscape.net > wrote in message news:tmp4f21tcq36p63agg4ncfrvj9p8ft6bkk@4ax.com... > On 26 Aug 2006 13:41:53 -0700, Andawyr@gmail.com wrote: > >>So, I bit the bullet today and ordered a set of Rac LT irons. However, just because TaylorMade is willing to bend the OP's irons 5* upright does not necessarily mean that they *should* be bent this much. Hence, my post. Did they fit you for every club in the set? If they only fit you on one club you could have a serious problem. Titleist did that to me a long time ago and I almost hit the ball over my left shoulder with the wedge. Had to be retested with every iron and had to readjust them al. I have a problem with retaining my spine angle in the long irons and go from std. lie in the wedges to 5° up in my 3 iron (increases gradually thru set and are std graphite length). I'm only 6 ft. and a 7 hcp. and I have tried to go with less lie adjustment but I go back to the same specs. every time. So, just as the other guys suggest, get retested by someone else before you order.
