Can't deny the fact that it is more fun to watch Ryder Cup than any other
golf competition: Augusta / British Open are normally my faves to follow,
but the team spirit of the Ryder Cup is like a new dimension in golf.

I like team golf compared to individuals ~ much less bitchy and far better
team-spirit and high morale etc.

Hope the yanks don't go and chuck rattle out of the pram. They need to get
to grips and become the best in this competition if they want to consider
themselves to be true-grit and all that. It is an excellent spectacle to
follow and is full of tact and strategem etc... Capt Vs Capt.... 1 Vs 1 /
2 Vs 2. etc.~ this cup is really a great thing for competitive golfing.

I also enjoy watching the Ryder and President's Cups -- but for another
reason. It is one of the few times you can see a great player playing
terrible on television. In most televised tournaments in the US, the tv
crew only follows the leaders that week, and you don't to watch someone
shoot an 80. In match play and team competition, you can watch some
pretty average golf being played by some of the world's best...and
still one of them will get a "win" for that match!

Take Friday's matches...some of the weakest golf I've seen all year,
and that was before the wind started blowing on Saturday and Sunday.
All in all, the putting this year was about the weakest I can remember,
and that can't help but make all the players appear more human.
Watching TIger was especially good for the game -- after he won 5 in a
row singles tournaments in dominating fashion, he goes to the Ryder Cup
and plays like an amateur...it made me want to go out and play!
