Subject: Refiner hinged driver/iron

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience regarding the Refiner driver or
5 iron, especially how it compares to the Medicus hinged swing aids ?The
Refiner is essentially half the price of the Medicus, presumably due to low
marketing costs and lack of paid pro endorsements.

Thanks,

Mark

I have the Madicus dual hinged 5 iron. It is nice. It has helped me
be more smooth with the entire club. I think one thing it helps is the
verticle component of the swing: meaning up (on backswing) and down (on
downswing). Since the hinge will break the club with any horizontal
pressure applied to the club, it helps me feel the club moving up and
down with pressure from the wrist cock. While my body rotates the club
back and forward. It also helps a smooth transition from back to
downswing.

At first I would break the club at takeaway. Then I got past that and
it started breaking at the top. Now I can make full swings without
breaking (usually). Except when I hit balls, then it usually breaks at
impact.

I think it is good at stoping me from moving the club with my hands.
Instead, it forces you to move everything (back muscles, shoulders,
hips) with the club going back, and then to smoothly change the
direction. Keep in mind, that I am still learning the golf swing.
The hinged club is just another tool to help me develop my swing. It
is, by no means, a universal tool that will teach everybody who swings
it how to hit a ball like a professional. My Dad was actually really
excited about trying out the Medicus, and he has only used it once
because he couldn't keep it from breaking and he lost patience with it.

Thanks for the input. I'll assume that all things being essentially equal
( as per web reviews), the Refiner should provide the same dynamics as the
Medicus.
