I'm looking to buy a set of used irons on Ebay and would like the groups
consensus of models and brands. I'm looking for something easy to hit as I
don't get out much and know I need a few lessons. I really like some of the
Titleist makes and some Clevelands are nice. I'm looking to spend about
$200. Thanks for any input, of course, both positive or negative.

I'd like to see recommendations that have different choices for
different playing styles. Why should swingers want the same type of
clubs as hitters? Why should people with long swings want the same
shafts as those with short swings?

And many times, the picking the right shaft is more important than
picking the right head - but we see recommendations by club head name.

It took me 2 months. I found good prices on 3-6 pretty easily, but it
took a little while longer to find the other irons. Don't know why. PW
took the longest, and it was the most expensive. All together, with
shipping, I paid about 95 bucks for the set.

There are not a lot of them on eBay at the moment I notice. But they
come up pretty often. Makes sure you search the DCI Gold as well.

I'm a big fan of the Titleist DCI series (Black, Gold, &/or oversize).
I pieced a 3-PW set together on eBay with clubs averaging 99 cents (the
6 iron) to $9.99 (the PW). Got 'em all regripped and have been having a
good time with them. Sturdy. Play great. Reliable, and great
game-improvement cred.

Ed, that's exactly the clubs I'm looking for. I sold a set of black DCI's
awile back and got a "better" forged set of Mizuno's about 5 yrs ago and
have stunk up every course I've played since then. The DCI's were
relatively easy to hit and also forgiving. I'm watching Ebay like a hawk
and a whole set is going for about $180 with shipping. If you see some for
sale let me know. You say you "pieced" a set together... that's a great
idea. How long did it take you? thanks for the reply.

There are no cinches, straits or flushes guaranteed when buying used
clubs.

For an on line purchase I would look for a brand name production run
that appealed to me, and go for it.

You might get lucky - for 200 bucks.

The Snake Eyes DC-01 model is about the most forgiving I've hit.
Not bad looking either. I wouldn't really rate Titleist or Cleveland
as game improvement irons, although they may be great clubs.

SJ, you need help! You've got to get rid of those stinky Mizunos! I've
been known to show kindness to strangers and I'm willing to help you by
taking those cursed clubs off your hands. Just shoot me an email and
I'll send you my address. You seem like a nice guy so I'll pay the
shipping cost for you.
