"Betty la Fea" was a big hit soap opera in Latin America for some time.
I'd never seen it, but the chicks dug it, as they say.
Unlike in the U.S., Latin American "novelas" (sopa operas) actually
come to a planned end. I don't know why exactly, since sometimes they
are at their peak in popularity when they end.
