brilliant? all it shows is they misinterpretted Kerry's joke too.

Yeah, a millitary and war vet is going to call people who join the military
stupid. He was talking about Bush.

Poorly worded joke or not, those soldiers should give their heads a shake.
Then again they get Rush Limbaugh pumped through their radio station over
there so we shouldn't be surprised that they're confused too.

What exactly would the joke be? It was not a joke, he said exactly what he
meant.

He was a Naval officer. There was no draft into the Navy (except on a
few occasions into the Marine Corps). A friend of mine was drafted into
the Marines in 1969 and they didn't send him to Vietnam.

What's the joke? I didn't hear anyone laughing, and Kerry surely
didn't have a smile on his face when he told this whopper! Kerry hates
the military and the military hates him. They have something in
common. What's surprising is Kerry's honesty in this regard.

Funny, Bush had an education (graduated higher than Kerry from Yale),
so how can his "joke" be talking about Bush?

You guys are spinning faster than merry-go-round!

I'm sure they've all lost friends over there... yet they still hate
Kerry. Well, Kerry and the troop have something in common, they hate
each other.

Was Kerry a volunteer or was he drafted? Does that make any difference?
Did Kerry get his education before/after Nam? Was he speaking from
personal experience?

There used to be a way to get out of serving - joint the National
Guard. But the current president closed that loophole.

How much time did you spend in the US Military? Why don't you walk a mile
in a soldier's shoes; coward?

Yea... they need to cut him some slack. Afterall, "he was for the joke,
before he was against it"... (VP cheney).

Even if he was joking (and I can't say he was or wasn't), that was a
pretty stupid thing to say in this PC world. :)

If you start off with... If you don't get an education... there are
lots of funny ways to finish it, but most of them will insult one group
or another. so once he started down that path... nothing good was going
to come from it. :)

Actually, as much as I detest Cheney, I have to admit it was a pretty
good joke.
I'm sure he didn't write it, though. (;-)
