Subject: OT: McCain joins SwiftBoaters

Even Bill O'Reilly says it's obvious that Kerry was talking about
Bush, but straight-talking John McCain says that after repeatedly
reading and viewing Kerry's statement, he doesn't see how it can be
construed any other way than Kerry meaning that all soldiers are
stupid.
I hope all the Dems and Inds who thought that McCain was somehow
different from other Republicans will remember this. I have never
thought McCain was very smart, but I did think he had a bit of
decency. This latest shows he is right up there with Santorum, Bush,
and Cheney, who will say absolutely anything to score points with
their base, even when they know they are lying, and even when they
know most of the country knows they are lying.

I was "there" at the site of the Silver Star incident, but I was on
Bill Rood's boat that day.
I walked over and spoke to Kerry after things died down . . . . . . but
I wasn't on his boat.

believe that no one but Kerry knew about it? The fact is that dozens of
people would have known about it, and the paper trail would have been a

Winter Soldier extended the war? What in the world are you talking
about? The war (specifically, US involvement on the ground) was already
winding down by then -- 1971. It was over for the US two years later.

Yes, well when he ran off to Jerry Falwell U. to make nice with the
evangelical right, the writing was clearly on the wall. He is no
different from all those power-seekers - principles last only until they
get in the way of ambition.

ballistic. Now what's that all about? It's yet another straw man they
can use to deflect attention from their record of coruption and
failure. Just like gay marriage and flag-burning. Every Republican

It's all about the fact that they have ABSOLUTELY nothing else to run
this campaign on. Everywhere they look is ruin and shambles, so they
seize on this silly mistake as if Bin Laden himself is walking down

Larry, you are the last person in the world to talk about education and
class, especially if it is to cast aspersions on those qualities in
others. OK, so your latest tack is to try to make out that no one else
knows how to debate, as if you do. You don't, and I speak as one with a
great deal more formal experience in that arena than you. No, you won't
stop clicking on my posts, because you are drawn to them lie a moth to a
lamp, and you will not be able to bear the thought that I am getting a
free ride to say what I want about your 'postings'.. However, you do
need a get out, so that you don;t have to answer/withdraw every time you

rope...." He hung himself with his insufferable arrogance. I think
most democrats are relieved that he lost the 2004 election, just as
they are that Gore lost in 2000. Those two later revealed defects in
themselves that would have made them DISASTERS as President.
This country has been phenomenally lucky for 200 years--promoting the
right man again and again-- and when losers like Carter and Clinton
won, nothing important happened on their watch-- or like in Clinton's
case, a strong Republican congress cancelled or overrode his
actions--after Monica about all he could do was ride around in AF1
flirting with the stewardesses. His last day pardons revealed that
he was a crook all along.

Hi Larry,
Your assumptions about Gore and Kerry noted. Hopefully the Dems and
Reps can come up with something new and better than they have been.
And thanks for noting that with a congress in the opposite party made
for better gov't. If we haven't learned anything else in the last 6
years, hopefully we've learned that neither party needs to be in total
control.
Implicit in the makeup of our Federal gov't is the idea of compromise in
this representative republic (note: not democracy ) is the idea that we
should be able to find middle ground. When one party is in total
control and can effectively ignore the other party position, we get what
we have now. A non-conservative Republican gov't. And thanks to their
willingness to show their entire color schema, we know that it isn't
what we want.
Or at least, I think that is what will happen next Tuesday.

I'm not sure this is always true, but it is true when it comes to
spending. It's difficult for a president to veto spending bills full
of pork for the congressmen from his own party who he depends on to
vote for his legislative agenda.

Honestly, do you really think Kerry would intentionally insult military
personnel either in earnest or as a joke? The premise that he tried to do
that is absurd (contrary to Larry's suggestion, Kerry is not stupid). What
would he gain from doing so? What is fact is that Kerry has consistently
attacked Bush's policies (some of his attacks may not be consistent though).
Connect the dots: they're not too far apart with this "issue".

Lies About Kerry
In response to the Nov 11 letter from V. K. Hreczkosiej (Phony Kerry) .

As with many who don't like the Senator from Massachusetts, Mr.
Hreczkosiej, probably unknowingly, has managed to promote one of the
many lies about him.
Mr. Hreczkosiej says "Sen. Kerry's picture hangs in a place of honor
in the Vietnamese communists' War Remnants Museum as one of those
responsible for the defeat of the U.S. military. "
That statement is false. The only thing true about it is that there is
a photo of John Kerry in that museum.
If John Kerry were being honored, don't you think they would name
him, or show a photo of him protesting the war, or at least put his
photo in a place where they were honoring people who protested the war?
The fact is, that museum did none of those things. What they did was
take a photo of a "congressman" who was visiting Vietnam to
investigate the POW/MIA issue, and placed it on a wall dedicated to
photos of various world government officials, veterans groups, and
humanitarian efforts.
Familiar names of some of those up there with Kerry are Warren
Christopher, Robert McNamara, FedEx and Admiral Elmo Zumwalt. For those
of you who haven't heard of Admiral Zumwalt, he was the commander of
U.S. Naval forces when Kerry was in Vietnam.
I served with John Kerry in Vietnam. I know firsthand how his service
during the war has been lied about or misrepresented. This is an
unfortunate extension of those lies.

Geeze, you are unbelievable . . . . . . Kerry is NOT honored, in any
way, in any museum in Vietnam. That includes the museum where his photo
actually is (in Saigon, by the way, not Hanoi, so you're off-the-hook
for that $1,000) . . . . . . his photo is up as part of a display of
various world government officials, leaders, and humanitarian efforts .
. . all of whom have visited Vietnam.
Kerry's 1993 photo, which does not mention him by name, was taken when
he was in Vietnam as a part of a fact finding mission related to the
POW/MIA issue.
Next to Kerry's photo is a photo of his commander in Vietnam, Admiral
Zumwalt. So if it's honoring Kerry, it's honoring Zumwalt . . . and
Hugh Thompson, Larry Colburn, Robert McNamara and a number of others.

I've spent time in the Hanoi Hilton with quite a few of those POWs
(after the war, I might add), and they will be the first to tell you
that they were NOT beaten and starved as a result of what Kerry said.
Furthermore, the reduction in troops had begun long before Kerry spoke
out about the war. And two years after he spoke, we were out of there.
Do you just make this shit up, or are you so stupid that you believe
everything you read from others who make up these lies?

Do you have a link? There's a guy who's also in the idcreports.com that
the SCGA uses with the same name as Larry (same spelling of "Whitaker")
who's a member at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Golf
Club, but he's a 12.1.
