Subject: OT: He's not even trying anymore

George Bush has apparently realized that the only people who listen to him now are complete idiots, so he no longer parses his words to be extremely misleading, but technically true. He just lies. STEPHANOPOULOS: James Baker says that he's looking for something between "cut and run" and "stay the course." BUSH: Well, hey, listen, we've never been "stay the course," George. Well, hardly ever. BUSH: We will stay the course until the job is done, Steve. And the temptation is to try to get the President or somebody to put a timetable on the definition of getting the job done. We're just going to stay the course. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/12/20031215-3.html BUSH: And so we've got tough action in Iraq. But we will stay the course. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/04/20040405-3.html BUSH: And, yet, we must stay the course, because the end result is in our nation's interest ... And my message today to those in Iraq is: We'll stay the course; we'll complete the job. My message to our troops is: We will stay the course and complete the job and you'll have what you need. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/04/20040413-20.html BUSH: And that's why we're going to stay the course in Iraq. And that's why when we say something in Iraq, we're going to do it. PRIME MINISTER BLAIR: Now, this is an historic struggle, and we're at a very, very crucial moment. And I think, for many, many people in Iraq, I think what the President said just a moment ago is absolutely right. Of course they're going to be sitting there asking, after all the decades of tyranny we've had, after all the promises that the international community gave us, and frankly let us down on, are these people going to stay the course? And we are, and we want the international community to work with us in doing that. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/04/20040416-4.html BUSH: We will stay the course, we will complete the job in Iraq. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/08/20050804-2.html But Multi, that was back when things were going great! Bush wouldn't say something that stupid, say, six weeks ago, would he? BUSH: We will stay the course. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/08/20060830-10.html Bonus: from the 8/04/2005 speech above, proof that the Johns Hopkins survey is correct about us killing at least 400,000 Iraqis: BUSH: We're also training Iraqis. Our troops will come home as soon as possible. "As soon as possible" means when those Iraqis are prepared to fight. As Iraq stands up, our coalition will stand down. So there are no Iraqis prepared to fight, and there haven't been for a couple of years. Yet in 2002, when Bush was lobbying for invasion, he told us of danger posed by the 400,000 Iraqi troops who were getting ready to take over the Middle East. We must have killed all of them, along with the tens of thousands of civilians that even Bush acknowledges.
