The record for most shots under par at a major is Tiger's -19 at the
2000 Open Championship. Will that be broken tomorrow? Who will break
it?

It's always a mess at my house, but I didn't write that post.

Which one?

Fun trivia question:
Excluding Gretzky's goals, who was the top point maker in NHL history?

He might break it.

If he scores like he did today he will break it.

If he doesn't break it tomorrow, he will some time in the next 20 years.

Tiger has not yet peaked. He will rewrite ALL the record books for golf.

Much like Gretzky did for the sport of hockey.

Be happy you are alive and engaged to witness the process.

Age? Top players of the modern era peak in their 30's. I think he's
halfway to the number of majors he wins in his career.

Born in 1975 and entered the tour in 1996.

He is in better shape than the average tour player.

I predict he peaks later. Anywhere between his late thirties and his early
40s. His taper down on the back side will be as successful as his past 10
years.

He will win a major in his 50's.

Tiger is 10 years into the 35 year process of rewriting the golf record
books.

He is not yet to the halfway point of his major wins. Maybe a third of the
way there.

The best is yet to come.

Sit back and witness the rewrite. Like watching Babe Ruth or Wayne Gretzky
define the game.

You can tell your great grandkids about it.

Well, this is probably stretching things quite a bit when you make a
prediction like this. In his 50's, he will be playing a US Open
course that will more than likely be 8500 yards long and golfers will
be routinely outdrivng him by 50 yards, or more.

Or not. After he ahs a couple of kids and his priority changes, who
knows what will happen. It is a given, based on play by Singh, that a
golfer can perform very well in his mid 40's. Funk is showing that
with 50 the game is still good enough for the PGA tour. To expect
Woods to perform well in to his lates 40's is a sure thing, if he does
not get bored with it all and devote hs time to developing his kids in
to golfign machines.

Record books will always be rewritten. In 20 years, it is quite
possible that someone will be doing better at the same points in his
career than Woods.

>You can tell your great grandkids about it.

I will be telling my grandkids about more important events:
Armstrong setting foot on the moon, JFK, RFK and Martin Luther King
assasinations, the miracle Mets, and other things that are important
to me.

Luke Donald has already broken his NCAA scoring record.

Really can't justify stating that Tiger is the greatest of all times. Yes,
he is the best out there now but he has NO competition. Look back and see
the Nicklaus era - Watson,Trevino,Palmer, etc. That's what the measuring
stick should be based on. The competition rules the question (greatest
ever?). I will admit that it is not Tiger's fault that no one in his era
has the competitive fire he has. I do believe that the money available on
the tour has definitely taken away the desire to win with a large majority
of the pros.
Just some food for thought.

This is the old argument that someone isn't very good because he wins
all the time.

In Nicklaus' time the Big 5 were more obvious than now, but that's
because #5 and #100 are much closer together than they used to be.

Give it some time; you're comparing the players who came along in a
30-year period to those who have faced Tiger over ten years. Watson
won his first major in Jack's 14th year on tour.

If Tiger's record continues to soar, it'll be an exception.

I think he will either throttle back, or the rigors of golf / etc.,
along with age will affect his ability.

Tiger is one of a kind, he has done a fantastic job, he is due a
breather.

He already had his breather. Similar to the slump Nicklaus had. That's over.

It's throttle up time.

He already has. Other leagues don't count.

Right. This statement is nonsense because it can=B4t be proven or
disproven. I could say that Old Tom Morris was better than Tiger and
you wouldn=B4t be able to disprove it. Tiger is best now and that=B4s all
we can say for sure. F

The clue was "fun trivia question". The answer is "Wayne Gretzky".
Not I changed words from "goals" to "points". In hockey, points are
goals plus assists.

Nope, it's still Gretzky.
