Hi There Not posted to this group yet but found the information on here very helpfull in my new hobby of golf, I have been playing now for over 8 months had some leasons and starting to get better. I am looking to upgrade some of my clubs as been using very cheap, unfitting and not whats right for me (from what I can gather from information gleaned off this site and otheres). I have always been into working with my hands and have reciently been reading allot about building my own clubs but am finding it very hard to find any shops or stockists of club building kit in the UK or even Europe it all seems to come from the states and I dont rearly want to have to get all the hastle of ordering and paying import taxes as am on a buget is there anyware you can tell me that might help as I am very interested to try this out? Also forgot to mention that my options are even more limited as I am left handed and finding good left handed clubs is hard already. Thank you all for your help with this matter

And if you take some care, you can build clubs that will be as good as what you can get from OEM sources. One of the major component houses--Golfworks, Golfsmith, or similar--has a European presence, so you should be able to find components. I suggest a couple of things. First, make a wedge or something similar. One club, so you can get the basics down (gripping, preparing hosels for epoxy, and the like). It won't cost that much, and it'll help you model the entire process. Then, find some components you like (there are some pretty good lefty components out there). Choose shafts (something like True Temper Lite XL), and get a couple extra for sorting and matching (and possible mistakes :). Get some ferrules, and some grips, some epoxy, and you have most of what you need. Both Golfworks and Golfsmith offer a beginning kit for clubmaking at around $100 that's pretty good, so I'd look at that if I were you. You will find that this isn't hard, just that mostly we have no referents for it. And you can ask here for advice. You should be able to build a very nice set of irons (3-PW) for under $200 this way.
