Well gang it finally happened, I got my first hole-in-one. 162 yard
par 3 into a slight headwind with the pin in the back of the green. I
purred a 6 iron that took one big bounce than two smaller ones before
disappearing. At first my friend and I thought it rolled off the back
the green and I had no idea it rolled in the cup. When we arrived at
the green I went looking in the back and didn't see the ball, didn't
see it on the green either. Then I started thinking, could it be in
the cup? There it was! I took two steps back and looked again to
make sure I wasn't imagining things. My first ever hole-in-one.

Congrats, David!

I've got one HIO, and I holed out from the fairway for an eagle
on a par 4. Both shots were from 150 yds, almost exactly
(give or take a couple feet).

Well done, David, congrats.

I'm still aceless and alive to Pflum, and I'll have been playing this

I've never been concerned with not having a hole-in-one because I knew
the odds of getting one were astronomical and some people play all
their lives without getting one. My reaction wasn't "Hey, I got a
hole-in-one", it was more like "I hit that shot pretty good".

I think Bellomy is the orginator of the "dead to me" club....

Congrats to David, the most likely to have a ball end up anywhere but the
cup. I have pictures of one of his drives resting on weeds, 1 ft above the

Well, that's not bad. But on the last par 3 that I played, while I dumped it
into a greenside bunker 80' from the hole, I used extensor action that
stretches but does not move the Left Arm and produces a structural rigidity
that is a strong deterrent to collapse under the stresses of Acceleration
and Impact. So take that :-)

You should have been at RSG-Ohio last year (2005 - the 10th), we had our
own band (a friend of mine) and RSG-ers basically took it over, with
zumafan
on guitar, and Patrick on the drums. Nobody tried singing (that I recall).

I don't suppose you can bring your guitar to PEI/RSG-Ohio... but you can
borrow mine.

I wrote the below in my head while we were playing Phoenix at RSG-Ohio
on Sunday this year.

wow........ congrats, David.......

I've had 3 HIOs now and.............the latest cost me over $500!!!
first, of course, I bought a round in the clubhouse....... and
second.......very few "thank yous" but then......... the "clientile"
was a bunch of idiots......

I hate to say it (but I think I already have.........) but........ a
HIO isn't the best thing that could ever happen to you!!!!!

Cool and it's cool that it was on a good shot, not a lucky one. From what
I've read about your swing, I'm surprised you haven't had a bunch. I would
have liked to have seen it.

In my case, far from it. I also once had a 9 hole round with 4
birdies. That was nowhere
close to being a personal best, either, due to a quad and a triple and
I forget the
other three holes...

Congrats. Same kinda shot for my first eagle earlier this year. 115, G
Wedge, 2 hops, in the hole (the plus was that I saw it drop!)

Congrats David. Homer is proud of you!!!

Best thing about it is that you didn't have to putt!!

Did this feat also lead to a career round?

interesting question...I wonder how many people have had a PB round in
which they had a HIO? I know I did on 9/20/04, shooting a 74 at Cypress
Ridge with a HIO on #2. I suppose it's not an unusual occurrence as you
obviously have a head start :)

Alright, that's enough of that shit. The political posts are
bad enough, and the constant personal flamewars aren't any
better, but talking in public about combining HIOs with PBs?
That's just totally uncalled for. Pflum is gonna turn his back
to you so fast you actually won't notice the part where you
can't see him.

So, you skipped my post 'below'? I had an eagle on my own PB 9 and PB
18 (actually 2 PB on the 9, broke 40 and played to par)

being dead to Pflum is such a great honor that I'm looking for all and
any ways to be doubly or tripley dead to Pflum. Dead to Pflum 10 times
would be really really cool!

How does one know if he is dead to Phlum? I don't hear from him. I've never
heard from him. Phlum, I'm alive. I've never had a hole in one. For God's
sake, acknowledge my existence.

Consider yourself recognized. BTW -- if you want to be recognized it
helps to spell the recognizor's name correctly. ;-)

My past golf league partner (RIP) went to college on a golf schalolarship &
was an excellent player who got his 1st & only ace while playing a league
match with me ---- it was the worst round I ever saw him play & the ace came
on the next to last hole.

He said "That d#mned HIO ruined a perfectly terrible round."

On a 9 hole day, I had three birdies in a row and finished with a 45.

My PB of 74 featured no birdies. 16 pars and 2 boges.

That's golf!

My best non hole in 1 was in the fall a few years back. 135 par 3 with
trouble in front of green hit a shot all over stick. It looked like it
rolled off back of green. When we got to green I found ball like an
inch in front of the hole. With the wind at my back I still can not
believe it did not drop in.
