OK, so she shot a "Carl Eller" today .... "Big #81."
Let's look at her stats for the week.

EAGLES - - 0
BIRDIES - 1 (chip-in?)
PARS - 21
BOGEYS -13
DOUBLE BOGEYS - 1

DRIVING ACCURACY 75.0 (Tiger wishes he could hit it that straight)
DRIVING DISTANCE 263.8 (Longer than Bellomy)
PUTTS PER ROUND 33.5 (Frostback numbers)
PUTTS PER GIR 2.050 ("Pelz, we have a problem!")
GREENS IN REG 55.6 (With her PPGIR stat, it's probably good that she
doesn't hit more than 55.6% of the greens.)

I don't follow Wie's game very much, but seem to remember hearing that
she was a 300+ driver. Am I mistaken about that?

Everyones a 300+ driver occasionally. Doing it regularly under PGA Tour
conditions is a different kettle of fish. I remember she played a
practice round with young Aussie Jason Day and he was quite appreciative
of the fact that twice out of fourteen she managed to out drive him. I
think he may have let her though in the hope of a bit of 19th hole action!

The whole affair is a disgrace for golf. A bit strange though so see
the other names in the last few places: John Daly, Justin Leonard, Lee
Janzen, Todd Hamilton. F

Pretty ugly! Good job we can't say that about her legs, tits and arse.

I thought driving distance was only calculated on true driving holes,
places where the players usually can and do use a big club.

Yeah, except that plenty of them don't. Tiger is a prime example. What's
the use of calculating his driving distance in the British Open when he used
his driver precisely 1 time out of 72 tee shots? And that one time was
probably not counted in the driving average.

Her main problem was missing too many 6-8 footers. I also wish the distance
numbers were more meaningful. They always include 3 woods and irons off the
tee, but you never know how it plays into the average. I know she can hit
it plenty farther than that.

why not crawl out from under her skirt and get some oxygen for a
change?

I'm not sure that Tiger's 06 British is actually very common, though.
My initial question was spurred by the impression I'd gotten from
various press things about how she was as big a hitter as most of the
PGA players, often over 300 yards. Just a foul-up on my part.

I'd guess driving stats are useless in the case you just describe. Why
on earth does anyone bother keeping them then, I wonder.

But picking different strategies, targets, and clubs for a hole isn't
that unusual.

Driving stats are part of the show biz for us. Players keep their
own stats for what is useful for them.
