I wonder why Tiger played first at the 17th green... Love lll was on
the green but was away and normally, would've played first.

They may have been on the clock again, and Tiger wanted the flag in.

Do . you remember an event on the LPGA when it might have been Sorenson
chipped in. It was determined she was not away and the shot was
revoked.

I would think Love gave Woods the nod to go first. If not, it could
have been an interesting test of sportsmanship.

Someone pointed out golf is the only sport where knowing the rules is a
sign of poor sportsmanship!

Was that medal play?

Thats because it was match play. In stroke play, the chip in would still
count.

That was match play. Different rules.

Right.
Match Play:
c. Playing Out of Turn
If a player plays when his opponent should have played, there is no
penalty, but the opponent may immediately require the player to cancel
the stroke so made and, in correct order, play a ball as nearly as
possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (see
Rule 20-5).

Stroke Play:
c. Playing Out of Turn
If a competitor plays out of turn, there is no penalty and the ball is
played as it lies. If, however, the Committee determines that
competitors have agreed to play out of turn to give one of them an
advantage, they are disqualified.

Out of turn with threesomes and foursomes are radically different.

Yes, and Sorenstam was playing a match. The PGA Tour play stroke rules this
afternoon.

They said on the telecast that its normal for tour players to wait until
everyone is on the green before they pull the pin. Also mentioned that Love
may had played first had it been the final round.
