That was a "lucky" shank for the cosmonaut because if he
had struck it pure, it would have de-oribited quicker and
not traveled the estimated one million miles. OTOH, if
he hit it the same direction the space station was orbiting,
the ball would have moved up to a higher orbit and possibly
traveled over a billion miles before de-orbiting.
