Subject: Long Term Effects of 2006 Ryder Cu[
|
Several days have passed now, so let's try to turn down the emotions and knee-jerk reactions and take a little longer look at what the long term effects of the 2006 Ryder will really be. I believe I am safe in saying most sane golf fans would agree that: 1. The discussion regarding who will captain the US team in 2008 will become pretty heated, with some favoring tradition and others feeling the need to shake things up (like picking Tiger) 2. Michelson and DiMarco will each lose some fans....as if DiMarco had many to start with 3. The questions about why top European players (Colin, Sergio, Padraig, Luke, Casey, Darren, etc) can play so loose and well in the Ryder Cup but not in the majors will get even louder until one of them actually wins one 4. At least one American player is going to blame Johnny Miller for the American squad's bad play... 5. We are going to hear 2 more years of brainless psycho-babble about why Americans play great as individuals in 72-hole stroke play tournaments but don't play very well in 18-hole team formats.. (okay, I admit this last one is pretty obvious)
