Before you go against this idea, please let it sink in a bit. The Ryder Cup is about forming friendships through spirited competition in a sport of character, no? Well, how about if it is North America vs. Europe? I have a lot of pro arguements but I'd like to here your pros and cons. I'm sure this has been proposed before and that many have thought of it but not posted or discussed it.

Then again, we've been watching that over and over during the last decade.

Couldn't hurt. Too bad Ochoa is a female. But mostly I'd like to see the US do some things that put us on the same side as our neighbors.

I was thinking that it ought to be continent against continent. Maybe South America could be with N America until they get more players. But what about Europe, Asis or Eurasia?

Well, how about if it is North America vs. Europe? What do you mean? Canada should be included? Sounds fair, but trouble is that Canada is a non-entity. If Canada would disappear from the map this afternoon nobody would notice. You can=B4t fight against such people. So - forget it. F

Simple - the euros have been serious contenders, while the u s has had a ho-hum attitude about it in the past. but this year, it's going to be a horse of a different color. I look for the u s to take the lead from the very beginning, and to never give it up. >mho >v fe >=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0"d R i V e =A0L e $ s"

The Ryder Cup was in the old days a friendly meeting of golfers from the US and Ireland & Great Britain but the last 15 years it has been a fierce contest between Europe and the US. The Americans have given everything they=B4ve got and you can=B4t accuse the players of anything like a ho-hum attitude. There is a natural rivalry between Europe and the US - rivalry, not animosity. Inclusion of Canada or Latin America would destroy the natural base of contest. F

The Ryder Cup was in the old days a friendly meeting of golfers from the US and Ireland & Great Britain but the last 15 years it has been a fierce contest between Europe and the US. The Americans have given everything they´ve got and you can´t accuse the players of anything like a ho-hum attitude. There is a natural rivalry between Europe and the US - rivalry, not animosity. Inclusion of Canada or Latin America would destroy the natural base of contest. When all of Europe was included, many people probably said the same thing ... ruining a tradition, too. Maybe there should just be another 'Cup" maybe held every 4 years to start off with that was a real continent vs continent contest. Maybe it's Orwellian, maybe just a true implementation of what NAFTA was supposed to be. North American Family of Trained Atheletes, or Federation maybe.

One of the cooler things I noticed in scotland was one of the caddies at the Old Course said 25 players from each club (not the kind you think of here) compete each week when 25 go and play 25, I think they played against Carnoustie. Less social but more spirited competition...

But it would be nice if Angel Cabrera, Ernie Els, Vijay Singh, Adam Scott, Shingo Katayama, & Arjun Atwal had similar opportunities.
