September 19th, two days before the equinox. Melbourne's temperature reaches 30C (86F), the earliest ever 30C day in recorded history. Northerly winds gust to over 100km/h around the state. First forest fires of the season, one blaze of 25,000 acres. Overall severe rainfall deficiency. Reservoirs still less than 10% full after winter. Highest possible level water restrictions. At least on the positive side, I shot 73 and 75 the last two times I've played, and my game is BACK. -- Cheers Colin Wilson ------------------------------------------------------------------ Trentham Golf Club: http://www.trenthamgolf.com Barnbougle Dunes: http://publishing.kyneton.net.au/barnbougle ------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope you weather the weather w/out too much suffering. Sounds ferocious. Peter

But it'll dry off two months earlier than normal if we don't get some rain. We're currently undertaking an intense fuel reduction program. Raking, burning, mowing, cleaning up. If I get through this summer without my house burning down I'll be grateful. -- Cheers Colin Wilson ------------------------------------------------------------------ Trentham Golf Club: http://www.trenthamgolf.com Barnbougle Dunes: http://publishing.kyneton.net.au/barnbougle ------------------------------------------------------------------

Why would we care about the weather at a penal colony?

Looks like you might wanna go for a lower lofted driver this Winter, or Summer or whatever the Hell it is down there. You'll want to take advantage of the added roll you'll get this season on the baked out fairways. Also, this might be a good time to brush up on your runup shots. Currently around here the temps are in the low 70's (F), there is no humidity to speak of, the air is clean and crisp, and there's a soft breeze blowing. Shit, why did I quit golf?

Colin, I just saw a pilot-guides piece on the TV about Oz and the 'Grampions' rockclimbing and whitewater rafting. There seemed to be an abundance of fresh water - contrary to what you say ..but maybe not in your neck of the woods?
