I have at present a 9 deg driver, 15 & 19 Deg woods and then start at a 27 deg 5 iron I was just wondering, seeing that I am only using 12 clubs, what lofts should I be using as a hybrid? a 19 deg 3 & a 22 deg 4 or a 22 deg 4 and a 25 deg 5? It seems pointless having 2 clubs with the same loft (my 5 wood and a 3 Iron hybrid) but would I be hitting the 5 hybrid far enough to be longer than my 5 iron?? Cheers Kevboy_telford

Borrow or rent clubs and try them out before making assumptions with your money. Note the flight path and roll of the balls - you may decide that you should have more than 14 clubs, swapping a couple out depending upon conditions. Tiger swaps his 5W out. Lots of pros swap out more clubs than he does. Admittedly, they play more varieties of courses than we do - but even in the same course, wind makes a difference in which club is optimal.

I think so. I have 18, 22 and 26 degree KZG hybrids. The 26 is very close to my 5i in loft but it plays about a club longer. I'd get the 22 and 26. I really only use the 18 off the tee. I hit my 4i pretty well and didn't think I'd have much use for the 26, but I can dig it out of absolutely any lie. It's amazing. Next to getting a good fitted modern driver, this club has made the most difference to my game.

I use two hybrids to fill that gap with lofts of 22 and 25 degrees and have steel shafts like my irons. This works well for me. dave
