when Chip Beck, who is 145th on the Nationwide Tour, can start 5
events, have 2 seconds, a 3rd, and a 5th, and be 35th on the money list
already. He would have won if Fred Funk didn't have a fantastic
finish.

His driving avg. on the Nationwide Tour is 278, only 3 yards less than
Fred Funk's on the PGA Tour.

What you wrote above says more about the players on the Champions Tour
than it does about the courses they play.

Wow, Chip Beck is playing with the seniors now? Chip was a pretty
good player at one point, then fell off the radar screen. He won
4 times on the PGA Tour, and shot a 59.

I guess it depends on how you define "easy". Easy for whom?

From a sample of one, The Hills of Lakeway, I can tell you for certain
that for the average amateur their courses aren't easy. On my shorter
home course I will usually shoot high 70's to md 80's. I work as a
volunteer at the FedEx/Kinko Classic at The Hills and get to play it
after the tournament. Playing it from their tees and in their course
condition I would be pleased if I could bring it in in less than 105. A
lot of very good professionals don't break par on every round at The
Hills or any other course they play over the season.

Beck has been working hard on his game and on his mindset - he fell off
of the radar screen because he lost his confidence, not his swing. Odds
are on that he has been working with a psychologist to regain his
confidence an his increasingly better showings are the result. I wish
him well.
