Subject: Duct Tape on driver ?

My son busted the shaft on my driver about 8 inches above the head getting
it out of my vehicle. Has anyone tried duct tape? Seriously........
Where is a good place to send the sick puppy and approximate cost for a new
shaft replacement?

I replaced a broken shaft at GolfSmith a month ago. Checking, I see
that I spent $65.15, but I bought a dozen balls as well.

If you want to fix it, as others have said it's going to cost -- probably at
least $25 plus the cost of a new shaft and grip. Add Golf Galaxy to the
list of places that generally offer club repair in their local shops, but
you will find local independent club makers just about everywhere. Ask
around your course for who does it locally. Another alternative of course
is do it yourself -- a real introduction to the dark side. Shaft repair
isn't the easiest of beginning club making exercises though and unless you
already have most of the tools you will probably spend more on tools than
you save by doing it yourself.

So, is that what he "told" you or did you actually see him break it
this way? :-)

He wanted me to think it was already broken, but I asked his Bud before my
son got out of the club house. Think it was hung on something and he
forced the thing.......

Maybe he loaned it to a Kennedy and it got hung on some girl's skull?
Hopefully it wasn't a new Ping.

I'd send it to Mike Dalecki aka "The Club Dor". He has a link on
his sig. I think Mike would do as good a job as anybody and you'd be
treated fairly too. You needn't worry about getting the shaft! :-)

Golfsmith and Golfworks both repace shafts. Cost - I believe is about
30 bucks plus the shaft. Not worth it, unless you have a brand new R7
or something like that. You would be better off, in the long run,
buying a replacement on Ebay, either the same model, or
a newer 460 cc, or even 440cc, whcih are going for only 60 or 70 bucks.
Used Cobras are going for about 60 0r 70 bucks. Great drivers. Or, you
could put a new shaft on yourself, for the cost of the shaft. It's not
that big a deal.
