Subject: Cracked the face of My Ping G2 driver

On the 18th on Wednesday, I gave my driver's face the usual cleaning
rub with my finger after my drive and found that I had cracked it. It
has a semicircular crack right in the sweet spot. Funny thing is, it
did not make a funny sound hitting it.

I have had it for about two years and popped down to the Golf Town
where I had purchased it after work today. The fellow there says that
Ping is excellent in this regard and that they will replace it, most
likely with a new G5. It is going to take a few weeks, but I will
report back. For me, seeing is believing.

They were kind enough to offer me a loaner at no cost from the demos
they had. I tried the G5 with similar loft, but the shaft was the
generic Ping shaft and I did not care for it. Tried the Callaway X
460. Man that makes a weird sound when you hit it. The setup is kinda
funny. Face feels very closed. Finally took a TM R7 Quad 425 with the
screws in neutral; told the guy to keep the little tool. The few shots
I hit at the range felt OK.

So now I face Howard and Big Bobby Clobber on Sunday without my trusty
G2. At least I have my excuse in place!

"a few weeks" ??? If Ping doesn't replace your driver in a matter of
days I'd be really suprised...unless, of course, your Golf Town sits on
the replacement order for "a few weeks"...

good luck!

let me know on PD as soon as you know. Wifey and I are planning another
trip down that way around then also. It would have to be late April or
early May for us as I have to get cranked up for RSG-NW in late May. My
BIL is in the golf biz in the area and can get us on some courses that
you can't normally play if you have an interest.

I'd call Ping and deal with them straight away. I would be surprised
if the turnaround was more than 2 weeks.
