Subject: Best Shaft True temper DG or Rifle Ballistik

It's probably been many times before, but I have been trying a friends clubs with Rifle Shafts and they feel much solid than my Dynamic Gold. They are both Regular Flex shafts but the DG's feel a bit whippy. Anyone recommend Rifle shafts over DG or is it purely how you feel.. ? Are true temper better than Apollo ? they seem more expensive, thanks patty

There is no 'standard', manufacturers have different ideas when labeling their shafts. Pick the shafts that suit you best, and ignore the 'label'. Go to a good clubfitter who will match you with the most suitable shafts for your swing. The major difference between shaft models is in the 'bend profile'...which determines how and where the shaft will react/bend to the various loads applied during the swing. This 'load' fingerprint is unique to each player, and only a good and knowledgeable clubfitter can select the right shaft for your own 'fingerprint'......at little or no more cost than the 'standard' production shafts. No one steel shaft is necessarily 'better' than the next, tho' it is important each shaft in your set is matched to any other as part of the set. In simple production terms for 'consumer' quality clubs 'off the shelf' DG 'Gold' shafts are better at this than most as they are 'weight sorted' in the production process and match each other very closely. You could go to very expensive steel shafts for your clubs that are designed and matched for specific characteristics of a modern swing, and modern technology has enabled this.....but only pros and elite players really benefit from these shafts. cheers david
