Subject: Beauty spot (golf course?) near Denver?

I found a picture on my hard disc that puzzles me. It is named
simply "The Flatirons", and shows a lot of triangular red rock
slabs, very green grass, a nice creek, parked cars, and some low
hills. It obviously isn't Grammercy Park NY near the Flatiron
building. The rocks aren't big enough to interest serious climbers,
so the picture isn't of the FlatIrons 1 to 5 above Boulder. The
colours *are* right for it to be in Colo Natl Monument, or Garden
of the Gods, or perhaps further east in Four Corners.

For a week or so (in case of copywrite) the picture will be up at
http://www.boulsworth.co.uk/avril/
Five more that I think are of the same place are at
http://www.boulsworth.co.uk/avril/more.htm

Please post here if you recognize the place or the picture.

Joyce.

Joyce,

The pictures are from the Arrowhead Golf Club in Littleton, southwest
of Denver. Picture #4 in your second group of photos is the downhill
par-3 13th hole. There are links to more pictures, a scorecard, and
general information at
http://www.golfcolorado.com/display.php?courseid=4 .

Regards,
Mark Vincent

That is the green? Downhill to *that*? Oh my...

Thank you!

Joyce.

That looks like Arrowhead. There are a few formations like that on
the front range. In Colorado Springs, there is Garden of the Gods,
and in Morrison there is Red Rocks Amphitheater.

Thank you :)
Yes, I probably saw the place in 1973 when I visited my brother
in Littleton.

Sorry about that---my mistake. Picture #5 (labelled "place5: valley"
on your page) is the 13th hole. The shot from the tee is between the
two rock formations, downhill over bunkers, to a green in front of the
lake.

Picture #4 ("place4: fountains") is almost certainly the next hole,
looking back from the fairway toward the tee. IIRC, the tee on the
14th is behind and just to the right of the fountain on the left in
your picture, hitting across the water toward the spot from which the
picture was taken.

My labels weren't the cleverest:(
But I took the *lovely* tour and found the 13th hole.
Thank you very much for the positive ID. I've taken the pictures
down now.

Well, the green could have been on the island, I suppose :-)
