Being totally unbiased in this matter, let me say that was one heck of
an event.
Four players tied at -7 over the last three holes. None of this "leave
the last man standing" stuff. Pure shotmaking and some amazing
recoveries for par. On a hard course, the top three players had rounds
of -7, -5 and -4 when the winning score overall was only -8.
You'd be hard pressed to see two better strokes than those shots to the
green by Senden on the 17th and 18th. And his two weekend rounds were
absolutely magic. The guy has game.
If that's the quality of the golf in future Australian Opens, the
tournament is going a long way to resurrecting itself.
