More impressively, he once won 4 majors in a row...

Yes, and he's halfway to doing it a second time.

Interestingly, if he does win the next two, his second Tiger Slam will have
begun at the same course (Royal Liverpool) where Bobby Jones' Grand Slam
began.

Don't think for a second that this little fact has been lost on Tiger, who
is a student of the history of the game.

The record is 11 in a row -- Byron Nelson in 1945.

Tiger once won 6 in a row.

Some don't see the posts as soon as they come in, and answer them in
the order that they read them.

Whoa ..go Byron. 11 is the most incredible number we will EVER Hear
...forever
in the game of Golf. Cant even fathom it.

Even with those circumstances of it being wartime and there were far
fewer world class golfers to compete with, it is hard to fathom.

But before Tiger came around, lots of people were saying that nobody
would ever dominate again - there's just too much world class
competition. Tiger's 6 in a row with that kind of competition may be
more remarkable than Byron's 11.

I was very surprised that Tiger has second place, tied with Hogan. I
assumed that if 11 was the record, there were a bunch of 7 or 8 in a
rows, but no. If Tiger wins tomorrow, he'll have two of the top four
longest winning streaks in PGA history.

And I realize that guys can get hot, but even Bob Beamon didn't double
the record. Nelson didn't bomb Hawaii, so it's not his fault, but all
the records set from 1943 to 1946 should have asterisks.

And another comparison that can never be proven.
