Subject: Americas 50 Greatest Golf Instructors

I was just went over the piece from Golf Digest, and wondered how such
a list was really compiled? Who actually votes on them if they really
vote? Do these voters give their reasons why one instructor is above
another? Do the voters have access to a lot of different techniques by
personal interaction, with videos, or do they rely on word of mouth?
Anyway, the 50 were said at the top "to be voted on by their peers".
Who exactly are "those peers"?

I couldn't find it. I did see links on past years, and on best by
state, and one on write-ins, but not 'how we did it'.

It's under "Related features", a small box on the right before the=20
listing. The link sends you here:

Years ago I belonged to a club where the pro taught everyone from a
book " the One move to better golf" by Carl Loren.I still own the book
and occaisionally refer to it. A few years back while on vacation in
Palm Beach Loren was teaching where I was staying. I had a lesson
schedualed with him and the day before he called to cancel. Any body
know his current where abouts?

These types of lists are always very subjective.

You want a real laugh? Look at this list of the 100 Greatest Stand-Up
Comedians.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100_Greatest_Stand-ups_of_All_Time

Martin Lawrence and Adam Sandler ahead of Henny Youngman? Take this
list, please.
Roseanne Barr ahead of Robin Williams? Yeah, that IS funny. Whoever
made that list should be on it.

I'm ok with Pryor being #1, but there's no way that Bill Hicks
falls lower than second place.

Johnny Carson wasn't even a stand-up comedian, and he's #11?

Half of the panelists are no-name people with limited or no success in the
comedy business.

Thanks. I see this overall as more of an oldtimers thing. Nobody
knows the ones that don't have a name, and lots might just be voting on
just a name, rather on a good analysis of technique and a bona fide
player improvement. As they admitted, it's hard to break into this top
50.

He lives in Tennessee. Don't know if he still winters in FLA.
