Since this group is part of the larger recreation category, I'd like some thoughts on alternative golf for recreational golfers. By alternative golf I mean golfing on executive, par three, or pitch and putt courses where the dimensions and difficulty of the golf course are changed to make the game easier for the recreational (or casual) golfer. Also, alternative golf can mean changes to USGA rules, such as SortaGolf (http://sortagolf.manilasites.com/ and TeeGolf (http://www.playteegolf.com). (I am the inventor of TeeGolf, BTW) I've seen statistics where over 3/4 of golfers don't follow USGA rules carefully. They're just out to have some fun. How many times have you or someone you play with improved their lie (perhaps with a slight toe tap)? So what if there is nothing on the line, or they're not comparing their scores with their buddies! Just thought I'd open a discussion on the topic.

It's worth whatever the player wants it to be worth. Your way, my way. If you and your rule-respecting doesn't get in the way of anything I'm doing, it matters not one whit. Ed

Many golfers broke the rules. But he creates new rules (look his link: sortagolf). Thatt`s what I meant changing. Tom

Even as a hacker over hcp 20, I respect the rules. Maybe therefore I`m still in the 20th? ;-) Anyway, what is any game worth, if you change the rules like you want?
