Technically, it wasn't the website itself that would have been
grounds,
but the post he made. (Although I didn't see the abuse report so god
only knows what they guy was complaining about). The nature
of his USENET post was dangerously close to some common spam
techniques currently in use. Basically, folks post virtually no
content
other than a pointer to a website and some phrase like "check this
out". It is basically an attempt to get "traffic" up above certain
numbers
needed to justify advertising on the site (or other forms of
compensation).
In reviewing this posters history, he dances close to this line
quite often.
He apparently has some affiliation with Golfdiscussions.com and posts
things like this regularly. He does make other kinds of post though
which
aren't an open ad for the website. (Well, someone from the same basic
address anyway) And it is common for him to post
pictures of tournaments which other folks might actually be interested
in
viewing. I'd guess that it's either a pedant that is complaining or
someone
who feels that he's getting away with what they have been chastized
for.
It'd be interesting to see the original complaint.
