....64th on the money list at this point in the season. IOW, if the
season ended today, more than half of the fully exempt players made
over a mil. My god the purses are absolutely insane these days. I
wonder who we have to thank for that? Multi, any thoughts? I know, I
know, Nicklaus' trailblazing efforts in the course design
vertical...but beyond the obvious?

1. Deane Beman.
2. Arnold Palmer.
3. That Woods fellow out of California, now from Florida. I forget
his first name.

=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
a matter of supply and demand. when the demand goes up and the supply
diminishes, the demand factor increases in value. and the tournament
receipts grow.

A society where people have no problem raising 7 million bucks plus for
a golf tournament, hundreds of millions for a football stadium; more
hundreds of millions for a different stadium for baseball...not to
mention basketball arenas. Schools with hundreds of millions for
football teams...and yet not much for people homeless and hungry living
in the shadows of them.

...I guess you wanted Tiger Woods as an answer. Nice thing about Tiger
is that he makes so much money that he has lots of room for tax
writeoffs via charitable contributions...and the 100 million or so he
makes every year is well worth it for a golfer. Being able to golf so
well is so meaningful after all, and does so much to help society at
large!
