that yells the afforementioned instructions for the ball. Last time
we looked...it has
NEVER HAPPENED....because the yelling is evident....when the shots
have no chance
to go in the hole.

I think of the 'whoosh' of the golf club. Especially in
cases like where Tiger stopped his swing when a bird
flew by... it still made the normal 'whoosh'... hmmm.

I think that was CBS. When I was visiting their trailer at Colonial
they told me about that one and the one where NBC used to put a mike
in the cup to catch the sound of the putt being holed. Well someone
figured, "Why not just make a recording of the ball going into the
cup?" So they played that sound whenever a putt was holed, until
somebody lipped one out and the sound guy accidentally pushed the
"Holed Putt" button.
OOPS, busted!

Y'know, a few years ago, there was a minor controversy surrounding the fact
that one of the TV networks (I forget which one) was playing ambient bird
chirping noises in the background of their golf telecasts. That ended when
some Audobon Society geek busted them when he noticed the chirping sounds of
some species of bird that didn't live in the region from which the telecast
was originating. The network was caught, red-handed...er...red-winged.
I think it would be a hoot if we one day discovered that these "Go in the
HOLE!!!!" guys turned out to be nothing but a digital recording that the
networks triggered whenever a player hit his shots. Because you're right --
it sounds like the same dumb-ass guy every time.
