Out of interest what is the worst shot any RSG guys have ever played (but where slightly impressed). This got me thinking after today, when I TWICE hit a Rescue club vertical ( I mean VERTICALLY straight ) about 150 FEET high. I was very impressed with the shot as I duplicated it twice on the same hole just to prove it was not a fluke. And I had the guys I was playing with diving for cover whilst waiting for the ball which eventually came down with an almighty thud EXACTLY where I hit it. I'm tempted to try it with my driver so I don't have to go the driving range any more. Just hit the ball 250 yards vertically.. In my Garden, imagine the money I'll save ;-) Not even Mickelson could duplicate that one with a 18 degree rescue club... Anyone got any trick shots they didn't know they had. cheers Patty

Well on the first hole I got off a nice drive, nice 2nd and third shot and sunk a 40 foot putt for par on a long par 4. I did my best to act like this was a normal occurance for me and felt pretty good, as I was petrified from the tee off with a few dozen serious golfers watching & waiting. It went downhill from there, one of the noteable highlights being shanking my next shot into the adjoining fairway, going over to shoot it and telling the lady in our group she'd best take cover somewhere. She of course was probably thinking I just had a bad shot and said she was fine standing where she was, about 30 degrees off from where I was aiming and about 100 yards ahead of me. Anyway, I insisted so she stood behind a tree with a truck not quite thick enough to hide her completely. I let her rip with another slice and the ball hit same tree at precicely where her head was with an extremely loud THOK and scared the bejeezuz out of her. She was quite rattled and my profuse apologies did little to calm her, I'm sure she thought I was just an asshole.. The rest of the round wasn't much better, but the finale was the 18th having a water hazard lined with a stone wall right up front. I killed the ball and it went straight at the wall in front, richocheting right back at us at warp 3 just missing the same lady by inches, back into the club parking lot behind us, setting off a car alarm on one of the many cars it bounced off of before coming to rest. I didn't bother going to look for the ball...

He took a good swing, we heard the ball hit, but he didn't see it. He asked where it went, my dad and other brother didn't know, but I told him I thought he topped it. Sure enough, he looked down, and the ball had been pushed down into the soft grass.

My cousin hit his tee shot on a par 3 so fat that the ball ended up in the divot. The divot flew about 10 yards and we found it with the tee still in it. He has also hit the ball between his legs before too. I think I'd take the shank over the whiff. At least you're not hitting from the same spot and EVERYONE has had the shanks before. Showed up late for a tee time. Starter said: get on the tee and hit right now. Guys in the group behind us were sitting in their carts glaring at us. I topped to ball so badly it rolled about 10 feet from the tee. I picked it up and walked off the tee box.

70 yards to uphill green, hit 56 deg. wedge fat and on the follow-through hit the ball again in mid-air knocking it into the hazard immediately to my right. This takes place in full view of a deck party going on in the house right next to the green. I can still hear the cheers go up along with the "We didn't see that, go ahead and hit another one." Ugh.

There is a low bridge supported on steel beams about 30 yards in front of that tee and the drive hit one of those beams dead on. The thing came right back past me and disappeared under a port-a-john behind the tee. That's when "stroke and distance" sounds like a very good option :-) Of course I've also hit a thin fairway wood that hit the deck of an arched bridge and bounced up and long eventually rolling onto the green -- beyond the normal range of the club, and I watched helplessly in a league match when my opponent skulled a 5 iron on a steep uphill par 3 that hit the rise in front of the green, then hit the flagstick and disappeared. -- Warren Montgomery (wamontgomery@att.net) http://home.att.net/~wamontgomery

You have to have a pretty fluffed up lie in the rough to pass the clubhead of a hybrid almost all the way under the ball. It is impossible from the fairway.

One hole with a little creek running across the fairway about 100 yards off the tee. My first shot was a worm-burner that zipped into the creek. I teed the second shot up higher, got under it, and popped it up on the fly into the creek. Serious target fixation.
