Subject: Who picks the US Ryder Cup Captain?

Just wondering. My impression is that in the old days, the captain was picked by his teammates, like in high school football. Listening to the Larry Nelson interview, it seems that it is now a smoke-filled room kind of thing. Do the players have any input at all?

That was a very interesting piece they did...and although they did not go into details, the story did not seem to reflect well on Lanny Wadkins, who was chosen over Larry Nelson in 1995? Maybe the editing was NBC's little shot at CBS... multi wrote: > Just wondering. My impression is that in the old days, the captain > was picked by his teammates, like in high school football. The PGA of America. Recent captains have been successful tour players in their forties who might be too old for the regular tour and not yet old enough for the senior tour.
