From thegolfchannel.com talking about Phil: "At the 90-hole Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, Lefty somehow parred just half the holes (45) - the other half were birdies, eagles, bogeys or worse. " Well, duh. If 1/2 of his scores were par it would make a whole lot of sense that 1/2 of them weren't. -- jvdp Start clearing your calendars http://www.rsgcincinnati.com

Thanks Mister Obvious. There isn't enough bandwidth here to discuss the idiocies of golf, golfers, and golf commentators.

Without that statement you would be left to wonder what other scores were recorded - just birdies and bogeys? Any eagles? Anything worse than bogey?

Without that statement you would be left to wonder what other scores > were recorded - just birdies and bogeys? Any eagles? Anything worse than > bogey? > > The point is that in their the tortured efforts to find something interesting to say about a sporting event, and show their vast knowledge, many recent J school grads merely expose their lack of writing talent. To wit, this Mickleson tidbit. What exactly is the writier trying to tell us? That PM parred only half the holes? Why is this interesting? It might be if he parred half and birdied half to wind up -45. This would be both a rekable score and an interesting way of doing it just as making 18 fours is a more interesting way of shooting 72 than 13 pars, an eagle, three bogeys and a birdie. But it was neither. I have been a big fan of the Golf Channel for many years, with Golf Central a fixture on my daily tv sked. But the recent hiring of Inga Hammond and her affected way of shpeaking about the shensational waysh Tiger hash dominated the fieldsh at the shpeshial eventsh he entersh has killed it for me. Crummy writing merely confirms my decision. -- Watson deMeneux -Say it out loud next time you're in a restaurant.
