For the first time since it was broadcast, they're going to show the
back nine of the 1960 Masters on Masters Sunday this year.

"I watched a screening of the finished product and offer this advice:
Don't miss it. The 1960 Masters had it all. A classic Arnold Palmer
charge and Ken Venturi's agony of defeat. The old guard -- Hogan and
Snead -- and a young gun -- some amateur named Nicklaus. There was a
minor rules controversy. There was an innovative new scoring system
for television invented by CBS director Frank Chirkinian. And there
was the great man himself, Bobby Jones, the legendary founder of
Augusta National and the Masters Tournament, holding court as the host
of cabin festivities."

Oh, hell, I thought Michelle Wie finally won something. I had stopped
paying attention.

I'm saying that I would have expected the writer to write something
along the lines of "Tiger Woods is a lot like the young Arnold
Palmer." Given who came first and Palmer's importance in the history
of golf, that makes the most sense to me.
Best,
Ken

Trouble with this is that today's audience knows the current stars.
They watch this show to find out about the past stars.

For some great footage of Hogan's (and Snead's) swing, this is
priceless:

I like the writer's comment, "Arnold Palmer at 30 is a lot like Tiger
Woods." Sort of like, "Johnny Unitas is a lot like Peyton Manning."
Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching the broadcast.
Best,
Ken

I'm not sure I see your point. Are you saying that the younger
players have not yet earned those comparisons?

Can't wait to see Hogan's swing.

I like the "Masters Sunday" reference.

CBS is trying to give it punch, kinda like Super Bowl Sunday.

I'm sure the 13 douche nozzles who watch will appreciate the effort.

I have to admit, when I read your post, I thought "Big Deal". After
reading the article, I remembered what it was all about (despite it
happening long before I was born) and am looking forward to it. You
have to refresh my memory sometimes....I have trouble remember who won
the majors the previous year. Of course Tiger has simplified that
somewhat.

Would it kill ya to put a SPOILER in the title?
That article said Arnie won.
