This isn't listed on masters.org but this shows that Thursday and
Friday will be available in HD on Universal. My Dish Network
programming guide confirms it (recording is scheduled).

Just ran across the "Universal" channel on TW last night. They were showing
the Shell Open rerun in HD.

Coverage over here has changed from the dominant Nine Network to Network
10. Nine basically neglects golf because they reckon interest in the
sport is dead. That probably means an Aussie will win it for the first
time, ratings will skyrocket and Nine will be left with egg on their
face. :-)

Ten are showing it here in high-definition widescreen for the first
time. I've got my HD LCD TV ready!

Coverage on the east coast of Australia starts at 5.30am each day, I
usually get to watch the gripping climax around 9.00am Monday over
breakfast.

I had a time problem myself watching the FINA Worlds from Melbourne. I
recorded two hours a day of a feed that with Aussie announcers, but I
new the results ahead of time. Still it was pretty amazing watching
Phelps even if it did take another American to deny him eight golds.
BTW, I was surprised to see a lot of empty seats. Libby Lenton put on
a hell of a show but I guess the fact that Thorpe was in the stands
and not in the pool may have had something to do that.

Does Thorpe play golf (token golf content)?

Phelps is amazing.

Re: the empty seats, one theory here is that Melbourne is burned out
when it comes to major sporting events. There's only so much people will
pay to go and see. Swimming probably isn't one of them.

I'm with Verizon FIOS TV, and they broadcast USA in both regular and
HD sections. I guess it's possible that the Masters will be in HD.
Hope so.

I would assume they are using the CBS HD cameras, so it is certainly a
possibility. I don't get USA HD unfortunately. It will look nice on the
weekend!

I was incorrect about getting USA HD, unfortunately. TNT, yes, USA,
no. They might still use the CBS HD cameras though.

It will be broadcast in HD on CBS-2. Don't know about other cable
companies, but Time-Warner added it last month to our lineup. I think the
actual channel title is MYTV.......CBS-1 is our local CBS broadcasting
channel.

HD cameras are necessary, but not sufficient. Every single gadget and wire
in the broadcast from the cameras to your set must be HD capable. USA
doesn't do HD so the HD broadcast probably ends before CBS hands the signal
to USA.

That showed very clearly at the Shell tournament. Most of the crane
mounted cameras were HD but the handhelds were not. The difference was
glaring.

I had a hard time watching until everyone was on the back nine where the
HD cameras were in abundance on in the air and on the ground.
