Subject: Titleist Irons Advice
Since 2nd Swing is going out of business, I dropped by my local store
to see what they had. I've been thinking about trading in my old
Titleist Tour Model blades and getting some more forgiving irons. I
just can't hit those clubs anymore. (It may be debateable if I ever
could)

Any experts out there who can give some advice on Titleist irons (I'd
like to stay in the family or at least with something very close) or a
website that may give me some insight. I looked at some 735s and 704s
today and even hit them, but a few shots won't tell me enough. I
definitely don't like much offset (which the 735 looks has little of)
on my clubs and I certainly need something much more forgiving (is the
735 forgiving enough? I'm not sure how forgiving the 704 is going to be
with my poor shots?). Anyone have any thoughts on these? Any other
irons I should look at?

Thanks in advance.

Especially with eBay being so convenient.

I found 2nd swing more convenient than e-bay. You could see the equipment
firsthand.

And the sources of supply going to jail.

Just noticed that myself.

I really thought a lot of these stores and spent way too much money
fooling around with used clubs mainly. They had become the best source
for used equipment.

Play it Again Sports stores have disappeared over the last few years
also and I wonder if anyone knows of any new stores similar to 2nd Swing
or Play it Again popping up anywhere.

I'll have to look for those 690s. I tried some Mizunos for a few months
about five years ago, but they didn't feel right. Of course I'm not a
great iron player, so any change may throw me off. (Thank goodness for
the short game)

Next time I'll try typing "I didn't see" instead of "seen".

If they are still making 690 cbs, I would recommend them. I have a
mixed set of cb and mb, and find the cbs way more pleasant to hit than
my old DCIs. Very little offset, not a big adjustment for someone who
likes a blade.

You may also want to look at the Mizunos for forged cavities.

Thanks JJK, I didn't seen those though.

I wonder if I would get more advice by putting some spoilers in here?

Do they have any 690.CBs? I bought an immaculate set of those (3-PW) from
2nd Swing and they're very nice clubs.

I bought a set of Titleist Tour Model Box Blades in great shape on Ebay
($225). The higher loft clubs (5-PW) are not hard to hit and their compact
heads feel great around the greens. The 2-4 iron seem a bit harder to hit
than my KZG Zero Offset clubs, but the difference in grip size makes a
direct comparison difficult.
