Al Gore tells us that the hottest 10 years in the earth's history all
occurred in the past 14 years, which is precisely about the time that
Tiger started winning Championships. Coincidence? I kinda doubt it.

What am I, a weather historian? Uhhh, yes - Sunday morning started
off a balmy 72*, which was off the normal variance of the Monterey
Peninsula by +/- .91*...but by the back nine, a ine layer had
rolled in, socking in the Peninsula and dropping the temperature to a
cool 52*.

Yep, and it didn't look all that warm at Pebble in '00 when he came
from what, seven strokes behind, to crush Matt Gogel's eternal
soul...ahhh, Gogel, who incidentally has retired from the TOUR at the
age of 36.

Yes - but did the weather *change* from warm to cold? And was it cold-cold,
or was it the type of sun and cold that can't make up its mind.

Are we arguing here that the only hope the rest of the guys on Tour
have is if the weather changes while Tiger is on the course? ;-)

I have a theory (which is mine) about Tiger... he hates a cold wind.

Thursday AM here in the sunshine state was a wonderful and warm day. Friday
as the front moved through with the early rain - the temp dropped with it.
The entire weekend was one where if you were protected from the wind and in
the sun - it was great. But the wind itself was quite chilly for Florida
standards. I drove around Sunday (for example) with the top down but the
heated seats and heater on to keep the chill off.

Consider what happened to him at the WGC match play... same thing. I also
recall several other occasions where Tiger was playing well and then crashed
and burned - where the weather turned "cold" at the same time.

I think he tenses up. I know that Friday I interrupted my round to wait out
the rain, and then found myself with the same issue. That cold moist wind
prevented me from a tension-free swing.

It could be. He also didn't seem to enjoy walking the hills at The
International. I guess when you're as successful as he is, comfort
is valuable.

The difference is that Tiger made the cut. DC would fire 68 on
Thursday, then realize he might actually make a cut and turn in a 78
on Friday.
