Subject: They want HOW much for the tickets?
With the Bears still in the playoffs for now the local papers have started
to run some articles on the Superbowl. I was amazed to see an article
claiming that tickets to the game this year are going for an average of
$4,000 -- before they even know who is playing. (If you wait until the
teams are finalized they said the price will probably average more like
$6,000). That's just unimaginable. For the price of a ticket you could get
yourself a very fine big screen HDTV and satellite coverage of all the games
of your favorite team for several years. Sure puts the cost of golf in
perspective. The only ticket in Golf that will run you anywhere near that
is the Masters. (Single round tickets to the PGA and US Open haven't been
much more than $100, and if you volunteer you can see the whole week for the
cost of your uniform). If you want to play, that kind of dough would buy
you a week or two on top notch courses anywhere you want. (I think I'm
going to suggest a Scotland trip with the money we "saved" by not going to
the game this year :-)

Like I said, an Eagles or a Saints fan, I can understand.

The Seachickens were just lucky Romo fell for the old slippery ball
trick. That thing looked like it had been sprayed with WD-40 and then
waxed.

Why would a Bears fan want Super Bowl tickets?

Now an Eagles or Saints fan, I could understand that.
But Da Bears got no chance.

So, if a mini-Ditka was playing against the Saints; how do you score it?
I have it Mini-Ditka 128, Saints 0.

The regular tickets are $500 or so. Still a lot of money, but it's the
ticket brokers and scalpers that are making the big dough.

Looks like American sports fans that attend big ticket events are
either rich... or stupid... or probably both. :)

Hey, the economy is good.

Superbowl attendance is mostly peripheral fans - they are there
because it is the event and some company is courting them by paying
for their expenses.

For a while a local radio station had a "Will you go or will you stay"
contest. The winner got to select between two equal-cost
alternatives - going to the Superbowl, or hosting a party with a new
big-screen TV. The 2nd place winner got the other choice.

When you stop and think about it - sports fans can get great deals
watching high school teams. And golf lovers might be the only fans
that the local high schools and colleges have (other than parents). If
it is the sport you love, volunteer to help those teams.

Watching a golf tournament is different from watching most sports
though. We can only see small parts of the competition. We have
to be satisfied more in seeing great golf than great competition.

Sounds like a great way to make some money to me.
