Subject: The links with golf and great music!
We had a "long weekend" here (holiday Monday). I went on my annual
pilgrimage to the beautiful seaside town of Port Fairy for the annual
music festival. But while I'm there I always play the superb Port Fairy
links course:

"... a precious and unique layout ... The gently rolling sand dunes have
been largely unaltered by man, only mown in order to define fairways and
rough giving rise to a wonderful natural 'feel' ... a golf course worth
travelling a long way to play - almost to the point of enjoying 'cult'
status." Michael Clayton

"Port Fairy (green fees $28) is the best value golf in the world -
without question." Golf Australia Magazine.

The course provides wonderful golf even when you only score 25
Stableford points in the wind! And that part of the country never seems
to have a drought ... the kikuyu fairways are always green. The new 15th
hole, now going parallel to the beach, is much better than the old one
and makes all the holes close to the sea, from the 11th through to the
16th, an excellent collection.

Music? Among others, I listened to two concerts by the wonderful Eric
Bibb, and another by the amazing Habib Koite from Mali. Oh ... and Ralph
McTell singing "Street of London" for his 12,346th time. :-)

Plus a rockin' Sunday evening with about 3000 others in the Shebeen bar
with a pot of Guinness, Kilkenny or a glass of semillon sauv blanc!
